Block fill calculator
Grout to fill the cores of a concrete-block wall — by block count and width, with partial-fill options for reinforced walls.
Fill the cores
FIG. 02How this is calculated
About 0.30 cubic feet per 8-inch block when filling every cell solid. Multiply by your block count — a 190-block wall is roughly 57 cubic feet, or about 2.1 cubic yards. Reinforced walls often fill only cells with rebar, which cuts the volume.
Part of the block-wall workflow: start with the block wall calculator for your block count, then size the mortar.
FAQ
How much grout to fill a block wall?
About 0.30 cubic feet per 8-inch block when filling every cell solid. Multiply by your block count — a 190-block wall is roughly 57 cubic feet, or about 2.1 cubic yards. Reinforced walls often fill only cells with rebar, which cuts the volume.
Do I need to fill every block core?
Not always. Fully grouted walls are strongest, but many reinforced walls grout only the cells containing rebar (every other or every third cell). Set the fill fraction to match your design — follow your engineer or code.
